Traditionally teeth have been straightened using metal brackets fixed to your teeth and wires which need to be tightened to move the teeth into place.  Invisalign® braces are a modern approach to teeth straightening, using a series of customised aligners made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that fit over your teeth.

The Process

If you are interested in finding out more about Invisalign®, please contact the practice and we will arrange an initial consultation, where we will assess your smile and discuss the possible Invisalign® treatments which may be appropriate for you.

Following the initial consultation a 3D computerised image of your teeth will be made and we will be able to show you how we expect your teeth to move during the treatment, and what your new smile will look like once the treatment is complete.

Should you decide to go ahead, you will wear each set of tailor-made aligners for approximately two weeks before exchanging them for the next set in the series. Your teeth will move little by little, week by week until they have moved to the final position.

You will need to visit your dentist once every 4-6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned, and you will need wear your aligners both day and night, however unlike the traditional fixed braces, you can remove Invisalign® aligners to eat, drink, brush, floss and for special occasions.

The treatment generally takes between 9-15 months to complete and the number of aligners worn during the treatment will vary depending on your individual needs.
